OB/GYN Go Live

One of our OB/GYN groups went live and everything has gone rather smooth.  I am impressed with the laptop we are using and combined with Citrix the connection is very fast. There are a couple of docs who are complaining about the CCC forms not being intuitive. And we have made some changes to the existing forms and also downloaded a couple of different forms which they are currently looking over to see if they would be more beneficial to the practice.

Exam Room Hardware *Update*

Today I spoke with several doctors about what hardware they would like to use in their exam rooms. I am getting a wide range of requests. The most popular has been laptops on carts. I am ordering most of the hardware from CDW-G (CDW’s Healthcare division). The Ergotron CPU cart is a sit stand cart that seems to be very useful in a clinical setting. The OB/GYN doctors are hesitant to have a computer in the exam room for fear that people/children will either get on the computer or damage the equipment. I also feel like the cart will allow the doctors to directly face the patient while also being able to be on the computer. I will post more when the cart arrives.

I am having trouble deciding which hardware solution is best for the doctors’ exam rooms. I have already implemented 4 different types of desktop/laptop/thin client options. I have searched and searched but find very little resources or suggestions for keeping the doctors facing the patients while they are also on the computer.
